When the World discus champion already had one of the pins my agency gives out. He had gotten it from one of my colleagues, who was always dressed to the nines even in searing heat. "Arabic guy in a suit?' I asked. "YEAH!" the thrower repsonded. My other colleague and I looked at one another and said in unison "RASHEED!"

Next I get to taste Japan.

I went to a smoking hot Brazilian club last night called Carioca da Gema to hear some authentic Brazilian Music. I closed the place down.

It was GREAT!.

Yesterday and today were beautiful in Rio and that kind of sucks because I have to leave now. But it has been a good trip. I really got a taste of Brazil. Next I get to taste Japan. More on that later. Now it´s a long flight home. I have to wait several hours at Rio airport. The United Counter does not open for a couple of hours so I have to get something to eat and then sit around. Whee.

Tips

  • Carioca da Gema is in the Lapa section of Rio, an older section that caters to students, artists and Bohemians. It's best to take a taxi there because parking is non existent and walking can be dangerous. But it also has some of the best music clubs in the city.
